The brand itself dates back to 1891 in Eindhoven in the Netherlands and began life making carbon-filament lamps. More on the history of the Philips company can be found here. The Philips TV sets under consideration on my website were designed and produced at the firms consumer electronics factory on Commerce Way in Croydon. The firm acquired the site in 1956. The first production colour TV set that was produced at the Commerce Way site was based on the famous Philips 6th Generation or G6 chassis.
